Pavel Janda received his PhD in philosophy from the University of Bristol.

He works mainly in (formal) epistemology, decision theory, and the philosophy of probability and risk. He has worked on projects in formal epistemology, for example, epistemic utility theory, as well as on forensic and judicial applications of probabilistic tools and on the epistemic aspects of natural risks and related decision-theoretic processes.

Besides philosophy, he holds degrees in economics and mathematics.
